Mark Mieremet
Hi, I.m Mark, just turned 42 and started Foundation 1 in January, had a bit of a break but back into it again. I'm in the military (training to be a Medic), so have to work around quite an intense physical training programme. I have 4 compulsory PT sessions a week, a mix of strength circuits and cardio, and often extra training on top of that to train for certain events (pack marches, longer distance runs), and also into equestrian sports outside of that. As I'm about twice the age of most of my colleagues injury prevention for me is key, and it's amazing how quickly I have seen the benefits of the GB programming. Although most Foundation exercises are very humbling, the effect of doing the static body holds on my push-ups has been amazing. I have had issues with recurrent hip flexors strains : since I have started GB I have had no issues at all, same for recurrent shoulder pain. I did a recent 26 k military running comp, in boots with pack and rifle, and apart from DOMS I did not have any pains or aches in ankle, knee, hip, which I am sure is the effect of both the strengthening and mobilising effect of Foundation. I love the coupling of strength and mobilising exercises. I'm not naturally very strong, but feel this is a great way to solve any imbalances (such as slight winging of scapula which I have had since childhood) and gradually get a stronger and more balanced body. I'm only up to PE1 or PE2 of most exercises, but can't wait to slowly progress further. Also going to incorporate Stretching and HS 1, as I feel this will help my Foundation too. Loving this forum, and seeing where it could get me in the long run. Inspiring posts, inspiring people.
