Guest
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10152948458430573 Title says it all. Here is Ido Portal's take on it: "The standing DOUBLE BACK FLIP, to my knowledge, have never been done before.Yes, it is performed here on a sprung floor, but because of no use of 'Punching Technique' - the contribution is small to the jump.Notice the strong use of the arms- not so much for height but for rotation first and foremost. This achievement stands on the same level as breaking the world 100 meter dash record. Its hard to compare, but on many levels - it may even be more impressive." This is, simply put, amazing.
Daniel Burnham
That is pretty cool but it should be noted that he is on a rod floor.

Blairbob
http://gymnasticscoaching.com/new/2012/11/best-standing-flipper/ Charlie Tamayo and Simone Biles have both done it to resi as was Steve Elliot who did it to resi back some years ago. Joshua Naterman
There is quite a large rebound, which anyone should be able to see if they watch the feet. Absolutely very impressive, no question about that, but let's try to avoid the splurging uberhyperbole.
Kate Abernethy
Notice the strong use of the arms- not so much for height but for rotation first and foremost. Yes, I totally get that point - I can do a quadruple back flip using just my arms......underwater
Coach Sommer
Not even close to being the first one. Ido is simply displaying his gymnastics ignorance here.Yours in Fitness,Coach Sommer
yuri marmerstein
This has been around in gymnastics, tumbling and circus circles for a while now. Still a rare skill but it was around way before it was mandated that you need an internet video of your accomplishments in order to receive credit for them. That doesn't make it any less impressive though. Aaron is a ridiculous tumbler
Norbert Marko
The thing about Ido is, I knew his name trough the internet for several years now, always read his takes on many subject he wrote about, but at one occasion I tried to ask him something trough his facebook page, and he threw a massive ***load into my face, talking about his information is not free and what was I thinking. If I rembember correctly, it was a general question about his method, I wanted to know more about how he gets things done, to throw a visit to one of his seminars one day, not asking for specific exercises. So much for the visit.I'm sure he is a good man but I do not know why he is being so incredibly cocky. I even saw some old posts from him at this page. How come he disappeared from here? Norbert Marko
I'm sure that it is a private thing between Coach and Ido and I'm not asking anything about it, just stated my curiousness. I really do no think that the second part of your comment is needed, I understand everything from the first sentence too.

Coach Sommer
Unfortunately while Ido is a long time former student of mine (via correspondence, observing my athletes' training, attending my seminars etc); due to subsequent unprofessional behavior he is no longer welcome at Gymnastic Bodies.
nf46
Wow, I didn't realise the relationship was so one-sided, Coach. Indeed, you seem to ask Ido Portal for his opinion quite a lot of times on the forum, and are generally very respectful towards him in early posts. e.g.https://www.gymnasticbodies.com/forum/topic/365-one-armed-moves-and-gymnastics/?hl=%2Bido+%2Bportal#entry2148https://www.gymnasticbodies.com/forum/topic/470-designing-a-circuit/?hl=%2Bido+%2Bportal#entry2913https://www.gymnasticbodies.com/forum/topic/633-excellent-one-arm-chin-ups/?hl=%2Bido+%2Bportal#entry4148https://www.gymnasticbodies.com/forum/topic/503-new-to-paleo-style-diet/?hl=%2Bido+%2Bportal#entry3191https://www.gymnasticbodies.com/forum/topic/863-43-year-old-asks-should-oatmeal-be-in-my-diet/?hl=%2Bido+%2Bportal#entry6301https://www.gymnasticbodies.com/forum/topic/1105-standing-on-one-arm/?hl=floreio#entry8614https://www.gymnasticbodies.com/forum/topic/746-self-dominance/?hl=self-dominance Also, Ido's physique, and those of his students have always been as impressive, if not more impressive than those of the students of the Gymnasticbodies method. Ido is also not merely some Johnny-come-lately fitness expert as you have implied in the past. He walks the walk, having long 1 arm handstands, straddle planches, a high degree of leg strength etc. He also posts regular, very impressive videos of results from the students of this method. His brand of fitness is also markedly different from Gymnasticbodies. In short, Ido is a legitimate expert, as you have acknowledged in the past, not merely a charlatan, some cheap knock-off of Gymnasticbodies. I don't know what has gone on in the past, but your attempts to criticise Ido Portal seem childish and arrogant, and reek of butthurt. This attitude is particularly cheapening of the Gymnasticbodies forum, which used to be one of friendliest and most civil forums on the internet. Please don't continue with this campaign of "badass" image. Gymnasticbodies is better than that.

Please don't continue with this campaign of "badass" image. Gymnasticbodies is better than that.dude...1.No one said that Ido is a ripoff of GB. No one doubts that he is very knowlegable and one of the best out there when it comes to fitness and MOVEMENT as he describes his way.You see, when Ido says movement he always implies that the best way of training is to be a generalist - and with every kind of specialization there is a trade-off. - I agree, but let's agree on the fact too that Coach Sommer is far more knowledgeable in the field of gymnastics and if he says that a standing double was done before this video, than it is damn sure right.2. From the linked comments, and from those above from Coach suggests that they had a very nice and respectful friendship up to a point what I think is none of our business ( and I would like to apologize here, I brought up the whole topic, I did not meant to create such a ****storm with it, none of my business too, I'm sorry). He did not say anything offensive in these posts.3. the campaign of "badass" image belongs to the mighty Ido Portal himself, who humiliates each and every person who dares to ask a general question from him about his method without paying 3000$ for it, and the butthurt person might be the one who posts a wall of text about Ido for the sake of protection over nothing.I'm not starting a fight here, and the best thing that could happen now is leaving this topic alone. Samuli Jyrkinen
Those Ido's students you see on his Youtube channel or linked on his Fb are often professional stuntmen, ex-Olympic swimmers, world-level fighters or high level acrobats etc. You can find some more "normal" athletes by searching Youtube as well but their results aren't often that earth-shattering although usually quite good. It seems that with the popularity his quality of online couching has dropped - there was a topic on reddit couple months ago someone complaining how the whole "coaching" was almost just copy/paste routine template without addressing the personal issues at all, and for a great cost. I was about to do it, but luckily Foundations arrived and I am happy with the quality of it. Ido is a real expert, and I have learned A LOT from him by reading his entire old blog and pretty much every post on here. I kind of enjoy his fuck off attitude but sometimes it gets irritating. Shaming everybody who is not on paleo and coming across with only real truths while calling everything else bullshit. Although I have read multiple books on nutrition from textbook to casual books, and attended university courses, I have stopped giving precise nutritional advice because I don't have the real expertise to give advice which could change lives, to better or worse. The net is full of self-proclaimed nutrition experts who don't have any appropriate education on the subject and only know enough of their topic to sound authoritative. I don't know how good Ido Portal is regarding nutrition but I am getting sick of all the health gurus coming up with new fads, diets and theories with only glancing at couple of studies.

Alessandro Mainente
i go the opportunity to see some IDO behaviors on FB, sometime commenting his status on something that he wasn't able to perform (the matter was breakdance) but instead of accept it seems that the first objective is show his EGO, the others are always wrong, this was only a isolated case but i'm sure that on the world he has a great number of hundreds of haters.I'm not one of them, my pov is " live and let live". I've talked personally with his students who did online coaching for 3 months with no results and then the chosen to follow Coach's seminar and books, etc. "Also, Ido's physique, and those of his students have always been as impressive, if not more impressive than those of the students of the Gymnasticbodies method" It's very strange that you can judge the athletes by their physique.
