Brian Li
Hey everyone! We all know most advanced gymnasts have big bulging biceps especially the still rings specialists and I know that the biceps are working to protect the elbow from overextending in most straight arm elements and I think the strength would carry over to curls or flexion. My question is does anyone know how much weight relative to their bodyweight a typical advanced rings gymnast could bicep curl with a barbell or dumbbells? To put this in another way, how much do you expect to curl relative to bodyweight if you can do either a back lever, iron cross, planche, inverted cross, or maltese? I remember reading that Gregor can bb curl 55 kgs for 3 reps, but I'm not sure how much he weighs. Do you think most can curl at least their bodyweight (I think the ones who can do inverted MU can)? I know this question may not be important, but I'm just curious and would find it interesting. Another random question if anyone knows: How much weight can advanced gymnasts triceps press with free weights relatively? Thanks!
seiyafan
Let's not use absolute weight because each gymnast weighs differently. How about they can curl 110-130% BW?
Brian Li
@ seiyafan - Yea I think they can especially the ones that build up to the gymnastic type curls like inverted curls and back lever curls for strength conditioning and the ones that use DB or BB curls for prehab or rehab.Anyone else have answers or speculations?
