muj
Hello,I would like to ask what was coach sommer's point in selecting a 60 s TUT for all the exercises in the article build an olympic body through bodyweight conditioning ? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks a lot
cathal
well he is the expert. he has trained many athletes over the years using these guidelines. however some people find that they can progress to the next progression before reaching 60secs total time. this is alright too but dont make the mistake of jumping to the next progression before you are sure you are ready for it because this can result in a loss of strength and a major hindering of your progress. kbryk
The 60 seconds is a bench mark to begin the next progression, it's like learning addition before multiplication, being able to hold a skill for collectively 60 seconds will also help you progress faster and safer, and also leaves you room to try longer holds then take it down a notch. Coach Sommer
Variations of 60 TUTAs the exercises increase in difficulty, the use of the 60 sec TUT will vary as well; the TUT will change from the total time held in one long continuous set to the aggregate total time of all the sets combined. For example, an athlete training an L-sit will strive to hold a 60 seconds L, but an athlete training an assisted iron cross would be much better served performing 6 sets of a 10 second static hold. The 60 TUT is certainly not carved in stone; the TUT may be somewhat higher when training a static element in isolation, or it may also be lower depending on whether the static movement is combined with a basic strength element. Guest jhgym2
A previous post suggested 0-20s TUT for maximal strength work, does this apply to continuous movement exercises as well as static strength holds? Thanks.
