Another Getting Started Post

Hi all, I've been trolling the boards for some time and have read the Gymnastic Bodies book several times through. I just wanted to let Coach and the Board Moderators know what I found helpful and what I think I could have used to help me start the program.

I've been Crossfitting for the past five years, but wanted to shift focus to Gymnastic skills and Olympic lifting.

1) Things I've found helpful:

Three posts have helped me out:

http://www.gymnasticbodies.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=6165&p=54995&hilit=fundamental+static+positions#p55025 Still Need Help post by swavroski.

http://gymnasticbodies.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1957#p12334 Starting Ring Series - Kilroy70 Template by Kilroy 70

2) Training. Per the most common guidance I found on the boards, I tried to do the Fundamental Static Positions, followed by the WOD. I couldn't really do the WOD, even with significant scaling, and my attempts were pretty laughable.

So I sought out a way to do a basic version and came upon the above posts, but only after hours of searching.

3) I'm sure you guys get this a decent amount, and it probably bugs you, but the thing that made Crossfit really easy to start and stick with was the fact that you could really easily find a basic warmup that anyone could do and a way to scale the WODs.

4) Recommendation. If you had a very simple "Start Here" post with a general mobility warmup, the baby-level FSP (plank, rev plank, etc), an explanation of how to program the fundamental bodyweight exercises, and how what a baseline program would work (Push/Pull/Core/Legs, etc), then I think you'd have a lot more people start your program.

My $.02, tons of great info on your web page and in the forum, I just look at the amount of time I've spent on here and just really getting started in earnest after literally months of reading.

If I'm way off on my feedback, forgive me. My goal is just to give my impressions in an attempt to get more people to try your program.

Thx,

Exq

Thanks, I hadn't found the Swarovsky post yet. I'm a newbie too.. very helpful. I think your post is appropriate and well-spoken.
