Wrist Injury : Full Recovery Possible?

Having just achieved a Bar muscle-up I did one without thinking about the stability of the bar, slipping whilst on the top position.

Result was a Scapholunate Ligament Injury. This was over 2 years ago. The doctor recommended Physio and ergo-therapy which I have done now for a long time. During this time doing daily wrist work. Strength has returned to my wrist, yet the pain hasn't changed much at all. The wrists are also moody, sometimes I can do pushups without a problem, other times leaning on a table can cause severe pain. There is great inconsistency. The pain also radiates sometimes up my shoulder through my elbow.  Yesterday I was doing core work by simply hanging from rings and I still have pain in my shoulders and wrist. Ive always had healthy shoulders up till now too.

This injury is really haunting me and the regular advcie has not been helpful so Im curious about alternative routes of therapy, Ive read about steroid injections in the wrists and also stem cells. I just want to go back to training without pain lurking in every corner.

Hi Robert, personally I think that this is not the place where you can find solutions. simply because you had a serious injury. nobody ( with exception of the people who followed you on the rehab) can help you without working with you face to face. in case of injuries like yours, i suggest staying away from online suggestions. they can make the situation better but also worse.

Hi Alessandro, I really appreciate the honesty in your comment and I agree that there is little to gain in most forums.

Im at my wits end and have seen several 'specialist' each with a heavy price tag. Days like today I have woken up with extreme pain. I wrote this post for alternative ideas, especially from people in the gymnastics community, so please if you do have any let me know of them. Its been over 2 years of not doing handstands, planche, muscleups.... you certainly can understand how horrible that is.

I understand your point but giving a certain type of suggestion is a big responsibility and i prefer to not take it. this is my general policy with GB students and generally with all people asking me for this type of suggestions. nothing personal.
