fellow GB athletes and forum members how do you find your heartbeat at rest ? lately i bought a a smartwatch that gives heartbeat i found my self at rest from 75/80(and also discover that i am in overtrainin state so i took this week off training) i found that wierd because i have been training for years now and did some sprinting once a week altho this year i did skip many sprinting sessions .

does gb enhance cardiovascular activity thus  lower bpm  or do we need to do some sprinting session in the week any thought about it ?

Hey Oussama,

A little running or other cardio in addition to your GB courses is a good. I like to keep it mixed up and rotate between running, swimming, jumping rope, etc. Also, check out this thread for some sweet heartrate variability info:

The best thing is to measure it first thing in the morning before you get up and start moving around…  (mine is around 48). We were discussing in the forums here about HRV (heart rate variability), an app for your phone that measures and analyses HRV really well and I have been using it now for several (5 or 6?) months and it reflects really well the state of my training/overtraining etc. The app is called HRV4Training (but there are many other ones)… check it out, and read on their website. Tons of information there. I think HRV would give you a better information than just your heart rate.

I count the beats pre waking up, mine is around the 45/46 mark first thing in the morning, although it can be done after a 10-20 period of lying down so can be good post meditation too if you do that on your back. My HR will be slightly higher the day following a hard training and when its back down I'm ready to roll again. the other thing you can do after that is stand up wait 20 seconds and count again. HR should spike (as you stand up to pump blood to the head) then settle back. fair bit on it around. but it really is only useful for you if you track your own rate and your own variability.

all HR monitors I have had have not been of any value. unreliable and inaccurate. interested in testing HRV4Training though.

Yes, very much so. It is not really that pricey, and I have been using it every day since I got it.
