Blairbob
The more flexible your shoulders the easier it will be. Being able to have open shoulders makes it a lot easier. straddle L is good besides straddled leg lift handstand presses o the wall
Razz
http://www.drillsandskills.com/article/16there are so many questions about learning this and I think it is because it is much harder than it looks because it combines great flexibility with great strength unless you have really good in one of them. Getinthecar
Thanks guys. It seems flexibility in shoulders and back is the key
Razz
hip flexor and ab compression (abs not so much for straddle) are more key. And of course shoulder strength
Jason Stein
My friend,Here are 4 additional drills that may be of help to you:1. Standing Straddle Press HSWiden legs, fold forward, plant hands, lean onto toes, curl/roll spine forward.2. Straddle Forward RollLike doing forward rolls, only in straddle position. You can rock forward on your spine, plant hands, and then use momentum to generate the hip-lift.3. Wall Straddle Press HSSame as pike press.4. Negative Straddle HSFrom HS, assume straddle, lower as slowly as possible as high on the arms, ending in straddle-L position.best, jason

Aaron Griffin
No, the glutes are one of the muscles that pull your legs out to the sides. They also control hip extension
