beginner questions

I am certain these questions have been answered before but can't easily find them so.....

1.  I can't even get into the starting positions.  Do I just keep trying?  I feel the stretch but am very tight.

2.  How many do I do?  Several times a day or just once?  

3.  Do I stay on day one until I can do a reasonable job at the two activities or push "complete" and keep going?
