Wrist fracture recovery

4 months ago I had an intra articular comminuted distal radius fracture. No soft tissue or nerve damage fortunately. Got two plates.

Recovery has been good so far. Got full pronation. Maybe 90% supination. Deviation OK but not same as uninjured wrist. Almost full extension after warmup but not able to do pushups and definetely not planche leans. Flexion is the worst, only around 45 degrees.

Have been going to physio which has been helpful so far but progress is stalling. Strenght is coming back but hard to get the last mobility back.

Have someone of you been in the same situation or have any tips on how to work towards getting full range of motion back?

Putting the heel of your hands on a slightly raised surface can help compensate for the lack of flexion during the rehab process. You can also find specially made slanted block from good yoga prop stores online.

I'm a fan of the Theraband FlexBar for wrist prehab and rehab. In Finland you can get them from a place called Lojer.

Did the injury do anything to the wrist joint itself or is more of a 'frozen' wrist situation?

Thanks for the tips! The joint surface was damaged but the surgeon was satisfied with the operation/reduction. It would take a year or more before the final result could be seen. It doesn't feel it is the joint that is limiting yet, more like tendons, ligaments and so on.
