Training with the GymnasticBodies program is about to get a whole lot easier. GymnasticBodies is proud to introduce GB Pro+, an add-on to the online courses that brings several key benefits to students.

  • Smart Programming. While the GymnasticBodies templates are effective on their own, tracking workouts and adjusting programming need not require extensive spreadsheets or training journals. Smart Programming not only automatically advances programming each week, it will adjust each individual element depending upon how you performed in your workouts. If you're stuck, it will also intelligently change the programming to get over the plateau, starting with small changes and working up to never been released alternate programming and focus cycles if you're really struggling.
  • Follow Along Videos. Watching someone do the workout you're doing has been the basis of making group fitness popular. Now, you can enjoy the benefits of following along a workout but with it customized to the exact week and progression you are on*. Each student's follow along will be as unique as the programming and change each week.
  • Online Classes. Everyone needs variety or a break now and again. GB Pro+ comes with full access to the entire library of online classes.
*Currently for Foundation One PE1-3. PE4-6 will be released on an ongoing basis as the filming is completed.

How does Smart Programming Work?

Each workout, the student will have a workout plan generated complete with a workout log feature with simple to use dropdown menus for each set and a checkbox for if mobility was completed  For example if you are assigned to do 2 sets of 10 seconds of Front Lever, there will be two dropdowns with the options of 0-10 seconds for how you did. There's also room to write down notes for each exercise.

GB Smart Programming will save these results and use them to determine any needed programming changes. It will start with simple changes such as repeating a week and work up to drastic programming changes if you are really struggling. As long as you tell us how you did on your assigned workout we will do the rest automatically. The programming alterations are more than just theory, they are what Coach Sommer and top GB Coaches/Trainers around the world actually do with their clients to maximize results. We've meticulously picked their brains and client logs to bring you what works.

Over time GB Smart is going to become even smarter. We will be adding new scenarios, new programming and adjusting based on the what produces the best results.

How do the Follow Along Videos Work?

GymnasticBodies has secretly been very busy in 2015! We have been filming over 500 follow along videos to make doing your F1/H1 workout as easy as possible. Not sure about how reps work for each side? Just watch and follow. Not sure how much rest to take? No problem, the videos do it as you should. Want to see it from another side? We've got you covered with two angles for the workout. Simply follow along for your workout and then go back to the course demonstration video if you want to brush up on any technique fine points.

Each of these follow along videos is a piece that plugs into your individual workout plan. So one student doing FL/PE1 Week 1 and SPL/PE3 Week 2 will get follow alongs with that exact number of sets and reps for each. Another student on MN/PE2 Week 12 and SL/PE2 Week 4 will get the appropriate follow alongs for that.

Show up to your workout, follow along and give your best and we'll handle the paperwork.

Will these videos be available for those who already have the courses? Or is it another product we have to buy?

Coach Sommer

GB Pro+ is only available as a $25 monthly subscription to those who currently own F1 and H1.

Great idea, unfortunately maybe a bit expensive for me. Will it be possible to use only when your having problems, cancel when the going is going well and then if you have problems further along pick up again? Or is consistent tracking needed?

I currently have the online pro subscription (can't wait util pro+ comes out!).  It's month to month and you can easily cancel from your own online account if you don't want it to automatically renew the next month.  I suspect the pro+ will work the same way.  (In all honesty though, $25/mo is a bargain considering the cost of in-person group workouts in the US.)

This looks very interesting for me. I have a couple of questions to understand how it is going to fit my needs:

  • Does it include the scenario in which not even a single rep can be completed with good form (MN/PE2 is the example for me, and I believe for many others)? In that case I decided to move to the next week anyway, in order to accumulate volume with the movement instead of staying at week 1 indefinitely. Maybe it was the right thing to do, maybe it was wrong. Would GBpro+ guide me effectively in this case?
  • Do the follow along videos include Foundation specific warm-up? It would be nice if after a general warm-up (light cardio, etc...) I can just push play and the follow along includes an appropriate number of sets from previously mastered elements...

Forgive me for being direct, but this is a somewhat foolish solution.  If you cannot complete a single rep, why would you move forward to the next week of even more required reps?

The solution here would be to directly address the issue; which is a substantial lack of mobility.  To that end you have several choices of implementation:

1) begin integrating more advanced MN iMs into your training

2) begin using the GB Middle Split series once per week.

Coach, thanks for commenting. Of course I don't mind you being direct, I actually value that a lot. I'm already doing the middle split series, with great constant improvements. I will also look into the more advanced MN iMs, it is not something I had considered yet.

... but does GB Pro+ include choice 1 in its methodology?

Thanks for the reply, yes i suppose it is a good price for basically a PT of coach sommers reputation, even if it is through a computer.

However, with no disrespect intended, after foundation programs were released it resulted in almost censorship of the public forums regarding giving advice about programming and progressions not specifically included in foundation. The default answer from most senior forum members tends to be buy foundation.

While I understand and accept this as it was a change in the entire gymnastic bodies model, I hope that the comments and form checks in the members forum will not become bias towards pushing already paid up members to subscribe to pay monthly. I think this would signify a significant change in ethos for the website and not for the better.

Just voicing a concern.

Will there be videos/programing for Foundation 2 and Handstand 2?

Not in the automatic programming, no.

Understood and all that I can say is that opinions vary.

The GB courses are my recommended training advice and the closest substitute I can design for having me personally there training you.

Everyone here who is not a GB customer needs to understand that GB's primary focus is providing customer support to those clients who have purchased GB courses.

Any discussions which interfere with that mission will need to take place elsewhere.

Nothing is planned at this time.  Currently my hope is that once we have walked you thru F1 with the follow along videos, you will be able to handle F2 and above on your own.

Is it conceivable that the special plateau breaking programming could also 'trickle up' to the F2/F3 users, who are having difficulties getting past certain progressions?

Thanks for the reply coach.

As a gymnastic bodies customer who has bought multiple courses I find the community within the forum a prime source of customer service from both certified and more junior members and an integral part of the online course I've paid for. I would just like to see this freedom of information among members continue.

While I say that I also don't believe it to be right for someone to pay for coaching using this new feature and then post it all in the forums for members who haven't paid.

Two seemingly, as I have no idea of how GBpro+ works or it's contents, contradictory thoughts of mine which caused my concerns.

Not sure this can be discussed here (and this is going to sound like I'm looking a gift horse in the mouth but I'm really not, just curious about the product ) but wondering what is it about this extra program that requires a monthly fee and not a flat fee? Is someone actually looking over my workout log results and adjusting it? Not sure that I understand what it means when it says in Cory's description as long as you enter the information "you" will do the rest to compile another workout appropriate to where I'm at in my training?

This seems to answer the need I was asking for with the follow along vids like the stretch videos. And that wasn't too long ago....sneaky sneaky...just when I thought you guys weren't paying attention. So this GBPro+ is for PE 1-3 only? After which I'm assuming that Coach feels you should have a solid basis to not need the extra hand holding for PE4-7? Thus in theory this monthly fee shouldn't go on for very long am I correct? Assuming of course each persons progress will differ based on thier strength, weaknesses and consistency in training?

Thanks.....

Itamar sha'ashuaS

some of the videos are not working at least for me, sPL/PE1 for example..

Regarding Mastery form and new videos:

Sorry if this has been addressed before.

With new videos comes a possible technique that may be different from the original mastery form foundation course video, which is understandable since individual athletes are different.

For example, on ocassion I have seen videos of Hinge Rows with lower elbows, or straddle ups with less hip flexion when compared to the original foundation course gymnast.

I would assume we still hold the original foundation videos as mastery form, correct?

The course demonstration videos will always be the gold standard for technique reference

Smart programming is exactly as it sounds...smart. It's made to do the exact same adjustments that you would receive from an actual senior coach.

PE4-6 are in the process of being filmed and will be released as we have them ready.

Two (more) questions:

If the smart programming extends to later courses, can it be decoupled from the follow-along as a stand-alone program?

Will the smart programming include a prescription for a warmup? This might be asking for too much hand holding and run counter to the continuing education aspect of the courses, but it would be cool if it could remember elements we struggled with and suggest warmups to help keep us sharp.

Smart programming works for all courses, however certain scenarios are designed with F1 in mind.

This is a feature we are already considering down the road. ;)
