Alessandro Di Sanzo
Hi guys!I've been working for a few months on my upper body mobility, since I realized I have tight muscles especially in this area - both shoulder flexion and extension are not so good. Finally, laying on the floor, I am able to touch the ground with my hands - straight arms.Yet, I am still not able to keep my forearms in contact with the ground as I lower my arms at 90 degress. Here's a video: I realized that after stretching a lot thoracic region, I am able to put forearms on the ground, just like this: Forget at all to perform the same test sitting against a wall... no chance at all. My question is: why? Which are my tight muscles? Is it only about minor and major pecs (I am not sure they are specifically involved here)? or other muscles as well? (e.g. rotator cuff)... Jesse Kim
Were you performing all of these mobility drills with a hollow back? I've had the same problems myself, and from what I've been told, it could be a lot of things. Rounded shoulders could explain the tightness with the shoulder flexion/extension, or even the fact that you've possibly built winged scapulae can be the cause(s) as this can be severely debilitating your shoulder mobility and not just your lats. I'm not an exact expert, but there are a lot of stretches that can help with the opening of the shoulders. As what those stretches are, I would recommend looking up past/current forums about stretching the shoulder area, because there are more credible people here who can help you directly than myself; for that, I apologize for not being useful enough :'(

Basically my question was only about the muscles involved, but I guess it is as what you said. A lot of things could affect this lack of mobility.
