I've seen a lot of gymnasts use special gloves or wrist bands during their rings training.

Should I use wrist bands while training at the rings?

Does it help or does it do any kind of harm?

Actually not only at the rings but the parallel bars and others.

I´m 18 and I only have the bands for the high bar. I´m going to get the bands for the rings this year but untill now I have had no problem without them, although I am not at a high level(yet).

Grips are not necessary for strength as Ido mentioned. You don't need them if you are not swinging to handstand, do dismounts and so on.
