Static positions make you lose flexibility?

Someone told me that those that are good on the rings are not that good in the rest (floor, pommel etc.).

He said that is because they're trained to hold a lot of static positions for a long time and this reduces flexibility.

Is this true?

Training primarily on the rings makes you worse at the rest?

Ninja'd by Gregor but here are some examples

I say thats utter hogwash. If you perform the proper prehab and joint mobility/prep you will be fine. When you see Olympic level ring specialists they are exatly that, specialists on the rings. Meaning they train more on rings than anything else. There are great all around gymnasts that are also great on the rings and vice versa.

Here is a ring specialist (if I recall correctly) Chen Yibing, notice the hanging inlocate 50 seconds in. This takes amazing shoulder mobility to perform and I am certain that he is very flexible in other modalities as well (search youtube and find his floor routine for example). Chen also competes at a high level on every other event even though he is most know for his amazing ring work.

Here is Benoît Caranobe posted by Coach Sommer a few days ago, he is a great all around gymnast, notice the difference in build from Chen Yibing.
