New here...when will the other books be released?

Hi :D

I was paging through a friends copy of Building the Gymnastic Body as i am interested in calisthenics and anything to get strong without weights/minimal equipment (and he recommended it). One mentioned caveat is that a volume liquid steel™ needs to be referred to to condition the wrists for the foundation exercises.

Ive looked on net and apparently Liquid steel hasn't been released yet...is there a release date for it ?

Unfortunately i cant afford any of the courses here due to being off work medium term due to illness...though i am good to workout hence my interest in the affordable books :)

It is my understanding that the books evolved into the courses. So as book volumes the information will not be released. You'll have to wait until you can afford the courses. In the mean time search the hell out of the site, there's tons of good information.

Yes, ussjkenny is correct. The building the gymnastic body book (and following series outlined in the book) have all evolved in to the courses offered on the GB Site. Below I will go on a tangent about the GB courses in case you want more info on them, even though you stated you currently do not have the finances to afford them. (perhaps in the future :) ) But the forum really has a huge amount of helpful info to train GB style without the courses. In particular you should read the killroy70 template that was also endorsed as a good outline by Coach Sommers. It is here: https://www.gymnasticbodies.com/forum/topic/1532-killroy-70-beginner-template/

Also, check these out to help you get started:

Cardio and Gymnastic- https://www.gymnasticbodies.com/forum/topic/3196-cardio-and-gymnastics/

On Steady state training-https://www.gymnasticbodies.com/forum/topic/3323-steady-state-training-cycle/

Perfect Workout Nutrition 2013-https://www.gymnasticbodies.com/forum/topic/9580-perfect-workout-nutrition-2013/

The book series as outlined in the book has evolved in to the following:

The Foundations Course-to get you a basic level of strength, mobility and conditioning to be able to even start the more difficult material. The Foundations course is split in to 4 parts, and focuses on the individual working towards 7 end-goal skills, but with an emphasis on the journey being far more important. This is because the Foundations series is not just the strength series, but also the Liquid Steel™ mobility series- a 2-in-1 course as we should not be working on strength skills when we have serious mobility deficits.

The Handstand Courses-Split in to 3 handstand series, the goal here is to become proficient working handstand and having enough shoulder/wrist flexibility and strength to do so safely. It  eventually culminate in advanced balance skills such as one-arm handstands and press-handstands. Again, the journey is emphasized over the end-goal.

The Movement Courses-As this course has not been released yet (but will be soon) details are more scant on this. But movement seeks to work on more explosive and power-based elements than strength based ones, and working on movement quality in tandem with the Foundations and Handstand courses.

The Mighty Rings Series-Focuses on building basic gymnastic ring strength once a basic competent foundation has been laid to do so, and works towards building an arsenal of basic (but brutal) ring elements to really begin building the gymnastic body (so to speak).

Lastly, we have the Stretch Courses, and while also not released yet, is pretty self -explanatory. It's aim is to torture you and build up an indomitable will power that will have massive amounts of carryover not just to the rest of the GB curriculum, but in all areas of your life.-This is achieved by stretching for the flexibility required of gymnasts and is intended to be worked along with the rest of the GB courses.

There is another, more evil course...but you don't need to worry about that now.

Hope that helps,

Chris.

EDIT: On the Handstand series I mistakenly said it ends in skills such as one arm handstands. It ends in advanced skills and balancing, but those have not been released yet. But still, we can dream.

So does that mean it's been confirmed that H3 will involve one-armed handstands?

It is confirmed that H3 will follow H2.

Nice try. All of you already know I never discuss specific course contents prior to the release of the course.

My recommendation is that if you feel H3 is going to be your HS holy grail/dream course (hint, hint), you need to quit screwing around and master BOTH H1 and H2. Because without having thoroughly mastered both of them, you are going to fail miserably at H3.

Coach Sommer

Coach never reveals anything directly, but really if you already own H2 and follow the forum quite regularly (i.e. if you've seen a similar response from Coach to an attempt to guess what's in H3), you won't really doubt what's in H3.  :)

I think it is a major goal of a lot of active forum members to try and get coach to slip up on a secret detail or two. Unfortunately for us it hasn't happened in over 6 years.  :P

If it wouldn't be spoiling too much, can I ask; if we're going to fail miserably at H3 without mastering H1 and H2, why is F3 the only pre-requisite for H3? Is it just the latter parts that'll demand H1 and H2 mastery?

OAHS is not just technically more demanding, it's also physically more demanding. You are essentially going from 50/50 on 2 hands to 100 on 1 hand.

I think I will need to purchase some Stetching and Mobility products before I will ever even pass F1 or H1 :)

There seems to be hints at such a thing, is there a release date?
