wrist pain when starting - normal?

Is it normal to feel pain in the wrists the first few weeks of starting gymnastics training?

oh, yes. But at the same time don't feel like you aren't allowed to back off the intensity if it starts to hurt a little more than you'd like. Wrist pushups are great for building up the wrist strength you need and relieving the pain, though :D If you haven't already, make sure you check out the sticky on Wrist Endurance.
