hockeyplayer9
Just curious if planks are best done before my actual bodyweight workout or after? Thanks in advance!

hockeyplayer9
Impossible to say without knowing what the rest of your workout is.Well, I do pushing exercises every other day or so & pulling the same. So, today I'm doing various types of push-ups (with rings too) and modified hand stand presses (with feet on a bed..can't do a full, standing one). Then some dips. Hipe that helps. Jon Douglas
Provided you are in reasonable condition (no pathology) there's no reason you couldn't do them as either a pushing day warmup (as they are great for activation on body position) or a single set as a regular warmup. The general rule for developing basic strength is static hold first, then related exercise. This gets muddy when you add more straight arm exercises, but it takes a while to build enough volume/variety with those to make it anything to worry about anyway Planks are great, it was a pretty regular thing around here to do a minute of front (pu position), reverse, and each side as a warmup before going onto pl, front lever etc work. Connor Davies
If you're doing planks the gymnastics bodies style, make sure you focus on full protraction at the shoulders. Oh, and do them with straight arms, in order to condition your elbows for lever work. If you're worried these will reduce the leverage and make them easier, elevate your feet.
