doofus93
Hey guys i have started to work on handstand pushups and i was wondering what the proper form is for both stomach facing the wall and back facing the wall. Stomach facing the wall: Hands are few inches away from the wall am i right? And at the bottom pushing back up are the heels sorta being dragged up the wall as you are maintaining the hollow body position? And is the pushup directly above the hands or is it like slanted against the wall? Back facing the wall: When doing pushups, only which parts of the body are touching the wall? How to prevent arching of the back when pushing back up? For other questions: I have started learning the basket swing on PB and i can't seem to get the idea of the body position during the swing. I know its a active pike but i'm still tryin' to now drop my butt as i swing.. Sorry for the somewhat-looking-into-too-much questions haha. Cause the videos only show the people doing the pushup but i cant see their form. Thanks for the answers in advance!
Connor Davies
There's pretty much no way to limit an arching spine during back to the wall handstand pushups, which is why the stomach to the wall version is superior. With the stomach facing the wall version, you will need to lean forward somewhat to complete the pushup since your hands are so close to the wall. Do your best to keep your core tight in order to maintain a straight body line.
Daniel Burnham
As far as basket swings go I would have to see the form to make any corrections. If you can post one I would be happy to comment. Most people don't understand to keep an active pike while creating momentum from the shoulders. There will also be a slight opening at the top of the swing. It is a strange tap and usually has to be seen and felt to understand. Text doesn't translate well.
