Deins Drengers
Hi ! I have a forearm splint in my left arm ( Had in both arms due to a overload on HS work ) The right arm seems to be healed but the left is still a kind of a problem ( it got better but the healing process is very slow ) and its been 2 weeks with no HS/planche work at all starting to get worried about the fact that it will take too long to heal. Will Wrist bands ( that are used in bench press ) help me here, cuz i heard that they can be used in all kinds of pressing? im thinking of waiting another week before starting very slowly my HS work again. Any opinions?
Klaudius Petrulis
Take it slooooow. Strength won't matter if you can't use your arm. Have you been seeing someone for rehab?

Have you been seeing someone for rehab? The doctor told me that i can't do gymnastics because of my weight ( 205 -210 lbs ) But i don't believe her! Coach Sommer said that with the proper preparation even people who are about my weight can do gymnastics. The doctor checked me and said that my bones are all ok, and it could be the tendons that are overstressed - cuz muscles tend to develop faster than tendons. Klaudius Petrulis
I'm not disputing that you cannot train, but I just don't want you to jump into something if you're not healed up yet. That's my only concern. Big Josh isn't a scrawny dude, but he can pull off quite a few sweet moves. I don't know, I would go see a specialist in this case. I've made the mistake of jumping back into training too soon and paid the price.
Daniel Burnham
I have forearm splints. I have to tape my wrists in order to train. You should take time off the things that hurt by either eliminating the exercise or substantially lowering the volume. I have not been able to do this yet as I am gearing up for competition but as soon as I can I will be resting them. The longer you go without taking time off the worse they will get and the more intensive your exercises will get. Use a rice bucket and foam roll them. You will need to pay more attention to proper joint preparation than lighter folks, but there's no reason why you can't do Gymnastic Strength Training™. For the forearm splints, I would give them some more time to heal before trying to get back into training. You don't want to immediately re-injure your arm. If you're not already, get a hot-pad and apply it to your arm frequently. When I was first learning to tumble, I got shin-splints pretty frequently. The best remedy for me was a contrast: I would ice them for 5-10 minutes, then run them under hot water for another 5 minutes, and repeat 2-3 times.
