Steven Fink
What if any conditioning is recommended--preferrably after a training session--sprints,KB swings, etc? Do gymnasts do any specific grip work--long holds from a pull-up bar, etc. Thankyou for your replies in advance.
Joshua Slocum
Recommended conditioning is highly dependent on what you're doing the rest of the time. I can not speak for every gym, but in my experience, grip-specific strength work is not very common. The grip is probably one of the few areas in which gymnastics does not require exceptional strength. Your hands do need to be strong, but not nearly to the same degree as a power-lifter or rock-climber. Generally the combination of ring, bar, rope and fingertip work is enough to develop a reasonable amount of grip strength.
