Tom Weksler
Olympic gymnasts used to compete with Compulsory routines parallel to their own "original" routines. I think it's interesting to watch gymnasts perform to a level of "perfection" and not so close to the limit of their abillities. I wonder what caused the gymnastics world to quit from competing those. - Video of Alexei nemov training for the Atl 96 olympics. -The great Vitaly Scherbo with a very elegant performance.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZiPdcnumpA - a couple of routines from 1985 olympics. enjoy

Coach Sommer
Thank you for the compulsory videos. The level of refinement on basic swing that the compulsories required, also had a tremendous impact on the quality of the optional exercises being performed at the time. The compulsories being dropped was solely a business decision by the international gymnastics federation (more television friendly, less expensive, less time required for the competition etc.).Yours in Fitness,Coach Sommer
