columk1
Hi folks,I am relatively new here, but I have been on and off the forum for a few weeks now and I am still struggling with the acronyms! I think it would be really beneficial for other newcomers if someone were to put together a glossary of acronyms and make it a sticky post in the 'Getting Started' forum.I've spent a huge amount of time on google trying to find each of the meanings and I still haven't figured them all out. I'm sure most of the other new arrivals do the same. I found one post on this forum where someone mentioned they had made a word file and added each of the acronyms as they figured them out. If someone has something like this (that's complete) maybe they could share? It would especially help newcomers to understand the WODs and the various skill progression tutorials found here on the forum. Boban Ilievski
There was a post containing all the Wod Acronyms, however it seems to have been lost, or something, once the new look of the page arrived. I would also like to have that post back, or someone to make a new one.
Graham Smith
The acronyms are described quite well in the book "Building the Gymnastic Body" funnily enough available through this website

Eric Kamhi
Yes the acronyms are in the book. But... There was a wonderful Sticky will all the acronyms and abbreviations on the forums. It was much easier and handier to have the acronyms bookmarked and a click away. Now you have to find yourself flipping through pages to find an acronym that escapes you. Especially for non native english speakers English acronyms don't always stick a long time in our lizard brain. A lot of very good content seems to be lost. Most of my old bookmarks do not work. The Coach Sommer essays stickies are gone, a lot of stickies are gone. Maybe they are in a new place like the Blog for Coach Sommer essays, maybe they are truly lost to the nether. Even the link in the CURRENT WOD FAQ that leads to the essays is broken. So I'm guessing this was not an intended redaction of content EDIT:These are some of the links that I misshttp://web.archive.org/web/20100115031236/http://gymnasticbodies.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=1434 http://web.archive.org/web/20100527225052/http://gymnasticbodies.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=892http://web.archive.org/web/20100115033457/http://gymnasticbodies.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=
Alexander Svensson
I don't think any forum threads are gone, they have just been "un-stickied" so you should be able to find them by searching or browsing the forum.
Eric Kamhi
Searching for the old topic titles returns no results. I also cannot find these posts when I search under the members posts. For example chauinc's content will not show his old sticky post. It seems they are gone gone gone or hidden from view of regular members such as myself. Rik de Kort
It was an announcement from the old forum, so it may have been eaten in the move. Cory should be able to dig it up.
Alexander Svensson
Well in that case I don't know. Here's what Coach says about in in the "New website" thread Posted 11 November 2012 - 04:42 PMThere were far too many stickies clogging up the front end of the forums. To resolve this many of the former stickies have been unpinned, but are still available via the forum search function.Yours in Fitness,Coach Sommer
Scott Malin
They're all there, but the search parameters have changed slightly with the new forum. I put up a new WOD acronym thread and will move whatever essays are not visible to the blog section of the site.
