Thank you Cole Dano, indeed, this is very interesting... and distressing too...

After nearly 50 years in this body, many of them training karate, I thought I had a better knowledge of "my home"... :)

I'm sure comes to karate you do. When it comes to performing new activities the rule of specificity applies.

Self awareness and the ability to learn do carry over and the 'Eastern Arts' are good at teaching these qualities. Your questions indicates you have that, you notice that there are different little things you can do. Not everyone does.

Even with my Ashtanga yoga background, I found performing HBH to Coach's standard a tall task, I'm only a year younger than you.

Hi guys, one quick question. When doing German hangs should my grip be: chin up (palms facing me) or pull up (palms facing away)?

I occasionally get a dull ache in my elbows, it's not painful but I don't want to over work the joints.

Thanks.

Both are useful as stretches, but the chin up grip is the one that you need to shoot for. Be safe and take it slowly.

Thanks Joshua, using the pull up grip leaves me with no discomfort so I'll use that for a few weeks, I've also added in the chin-up hang into my FSP as well.

In this thread here: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=9173 Rik and Cole talk about doing 4 FBE a day. I'm only doing 2 and wonder if this is fine? Currently I do this:

Monday:

PPP, inverted row

Tue:

HeSPU, Pull ups

Thur:

GHR, Pistols (limited ROM for both)

Fri:

Close grip chin ups, Dips.

Should I do this instead, previous days routine goes onto the next day:

Mon:

Close grip chin ups, dips (from friday), PPP, inverted row

Tues:

PPP, Inverted row (from monday), HeSPU, Pull ups

Thurs:

HeSPU, Pull ups, GHR, Pistol

Fri:

GHR, Pistol, Close grip chin up, dips

This this a better amount of FBE or is my original amount fine?

My FSP that I do every day look like:

chin up hang 30s

german hang 20s

hollow hold 30s

L-sit 20s

arch hold 30s

Handstand 30s

for 3 sets.

Thanks guys for any feedback.
