Michael Traynor
It is incredibly common for gymnasts to go into pole vault after gymnastics. Yelena has a gymnastics background. Makes sense for her to still train this way as it is what gives her the edge and makes her the best in the world.

Blairbob
Amy Chow was an Olympian for the US in the 90s and I think 2000. She later went on to do collegiate polevaulting as well as nearly qualifying for Nationals last year when she started diving recreationally. Needless to say, she was super talented. I've heard a lot of polevault coaches try to recruit the gymnasts that quit after junior high or while they are in high school. A well equipped polevault team does a lot of ring and high bar work. Ours didn't since we lacked both but we did have single rails and PB to do drills with.
