Hey everyone. I have the standard PVC p-bars. My question is stated in the subject. How far apart do the p-bars need to be to be regulation distance apart?

Most people measure p-bar distance with their forearms. The distance from the point of your elbow to the end of your fingers is about right, give or take a little.

Yes, technically there really isn't such a thing as regulation width besides how close or far you can set the bars.

I set my pvc parallettes to the distance from my elbow to my finger, and there is no way i could do even the easiest straddle l sit with them that far apart. So now i am slightly confused. Does anyone know what the distance of the olympic parallettes that coach used in the book. They were the ones used when the L-sit was being demonstrated.

Ian there is no set distance, parallel bars are adjustable by design so athletes can set them to their preferred spacing.

The forearm length measurement is more a rule of thumb than a fixed rule. It's a pain if you are designing a fixed width system because if you aren't sure what you like already, it's a bit of a guess.

ooo! so basically to set the distance to my own needs and the better i get, if i see fit, i can seperate them more to make it more difficult.

Thanks everyone!
