Ian Legrow
When people ask "how long do i have to practice my handstand" I hear a lot of people suggest "spend at least ten minutes a day". I guess i am wondering if one should do one or two minutes every day until the tendons in their wrists and to a lesser extent, their shoulders get stronger until they just start practicing ten minute handstands every day? Or am i just being overly concerned about tendonitis?
Aaron Griffin
10 minutes per day doesn't mean 10 minutes of handstand holds. That means you spend a 10 minute block of time working on handstands - if most of it's rest, then so be it. My 10 minute blocks usually end up being around 3-4 minutes of total rest. Ian Legrow
Yes, i figured, and thank you. but still, i am 135 lbs (i don't know in kilograms). But even if i am resting for four minutes, if my tendons are not used to it (which they are, i am doing two minutes a day right now to get my tendons ready) wouldn't six minutes a day be too much? Randeep Walia
Listen to your wrists, soldier. You know how much is too much! Also don't forget to do the proper joint/wrist warm-up and cool-down.
