CalisthenicGod
How much carryover does the Front Lever have over the L-Sit? I remember in Coach's book, he mentions one of his trainees who is exceptional at Front Levers dominated an L-Sit competition. Also in Killroy70's template, he mentions only doing PL, FL, BL, HS and various FBE's enabled him to achieve a 10 second V-Sit. So does Front Lever have great carryover to L-Sit? Can someone who is good at Front Lever also do a solid L-Sit?

Blairbob
So long as you are using the straight back versions of progressions, you'll probably get some carryover without working the L-sit since it works core strength. I know I definitely feel them being work in hollow hold, body levers, and flat tuck FL, ring support, planche leans on swiss ball and rings, even 60s support on PB ( I don't feel it on BL because I'm focusing on fighting to hold it, heh). If you can do a FL you can probably have a good strong L-sit since you have to have a strong core to hold the FL. One of my lil guys had a 3-5s straight FL, slight pike in hips at times. However, for the most part I never got a good test at L-hang or L-sit times because he didn't like holding them for very long and no bribe would work. :x
ashita
Yes of course, FL work your triceps a lot and your core, exactly what you need with the L-sit.Also the L-sit requires more flexibilty than FL, it is another factor. But it's pretty obvious, if you can't do l-sit you'll never do a FL, l-sit compared to the core strength you need to hold a fl it's a joke lol
CalisthenicGod
Thank you all for the responses, and Blairbob you're helpful as always. I will still be doing L-Sits, but I was just wondering if doing Front Levers will benefit my L-Sits. My FSP warm-up goes like this:1. Wall Handstand 2x30 sec2. German Hang 4x15 sec3. Frog Stand 2x30 sec4. Tucked Front Lever 3x20 sec5. Low L-Sit 4x15 sec Basically, 5 FSP's for warm-up, which isn't too much yet not too few, and I do that 4x a week with my FBE routines. Blairbob
Sounds good, just make sure you're working some ring support of some kind if you have them scaled toward you in your programming somewhere. Preferably often enough.

Uzeeh
Honestly, I think that FL has zero carryover if you have poor flexibility like me. Before I took a break from training, I could do a solid six second straddle FL, but couldn't do a proper L-sit for even a second on the floor. When a guy with poor flexibiulity does L-sit, it looks like a MSH 'cause you can't bend at the hips.
