I dont see how thats even possible - as you lower, your hands are behind your body

Stand back to wall and shoulders elbows and hands are on wall. Now slide elbows up like you're doing Bulgarian dip and make sure elbows shoulders and hands all stay in contact with wall. Raise arms until elbows at shoulder height.

not at all.  they are in line with your body.  Your back stays against the wall.  If your back comes off the wall you don't have the flexibility necessary.

If you progress to Bulgarian Dips and do them as your only pushing exercise for a while and get better at it, will you be able to beat your all time Conventional Ring Dip record right at your first try even if you haven't done them in weeks/months? Or are the two movements too different?

it depends. if your RM for ring dips is lower (lets say 5-10), the possibility is much higher. if your RM for ring dips is high enough for the strength involved to be no factor (lets say 20), your increased strength wont improve your ring dips a lot - they might even reduce the amount because strength-endurance tends to fade away really quick.
