klops3style
I do a lot of reps push ups squats etc. I would like to train handstand drills: one arm handstand tigerbend.Handstand drills after or before strength training?
Aaron Griffin
Before. Do skill work before your main workout. You'll also probably want some strength based work in there. "Lots of reps" isn't going to lend itself to an increase in raw strength too well

Samuel Carr
Im pretty sure strength work is done before skill work. That's what coach sommer does with his guys. So if you have the strength required and are just working on stuff like body line and balance then put it after your conditioning.
Dillon Zrike
Element,Our warmup does have some strength elements, but conditioning is done at the end of training. If you are doing multiple workouts per day it might be better to have a morning conditioning, a skill session, and a final session with conditioning. That applies to multiple workouts. I was always under the impression that skill work should be practiced when not fatigued. Doing it after strength work would mean you'd be fatigued when training skills... See the Routine construction section, where it says: "a sample program would begin with", and also the "Summing up the parts" section:"1. Warmup / mobility work2. Skill development3. Strength/power work4. Cool down / prehabilitative or rehabilitative work"I personally followed the advices from Steven and put the skill development right after the warm-up exercices in the weekly workout I am sketching right now. DillonBut i had always thought that you guys preformed the wods as your warmup/conditioning and then spent the rest of your time on skills with a cool down at the end. This seems to make sense as it would ensure that you wouldnt perform skills outside of your strength abilities (what coach sommer is all about). And also im pretty sure Slizzardman and maybe some others always recommend working any goal you want to learn that isn't in the actual wod by doing some reps of it in between the fsp and the wod
Blairbob
Sliz has stated they do the WOD and the event work. However, I would have specific strength done after the warmup. I generally prefer to work press to HS and stuff like that. With my guys, I would have them do their FSP work post WU and they would finish their FBE towards the end of their workout. I felt this allowed them some recovery time, especially as they had a snack and break after their FSP and specific strength ( FSP WU+Presses+FSP ). Were my guys to do any conditioning type dynamic WOD, it was done towards the end of training before any final stretching and mobility.
