David Beckerman
Hi guys,I have rounded hunched shoulders, I was just wondering if there was any specific exercises I can use to fix this. Currently I do the Ido scap/ shoulder routine and the shoulder rehab/ prehab in Slizz's video. I also stretch twice a week following the link.commonly posted here (I've lost the link sorry I just do it on memory now).Workout wise I do the basic FSPs including GH plus the WODs. To improve my shoulder posture will it just be a matter of time if I continue down this route please?Regards,DB
braindx
Foam roll or use lacrosse balls taped together to do mobility work on your T-spine.Most of the problems of upper cross syndrome start from there. From there when you stand up straight tilt the bottom of your sternum up, and that should bring you into proper alignment. (e.g. chest up like military posture although it should be natural and not forced). This will automatically push your shoulders back (retract them) into a better position as they sit on your rib cage, it will automatically pull your head into alignment from head forwards posture (well, some of the time... may still have to focus on it), and should help decrease tension issues on your scapular retractors. Most of all it should FEEL natural. Posture is not one of those thigns where it should feel like you are having to work for it all the time. The T-spine and chest up alignment are more important for posture than stretching out the chest and getting shoulder mobility (although chest/lats/teres major/ and shoulder mobility are important for gymnastics strengthening and alignment so you obviously want to do both).Hope that helps
