Blairbob
It is supposed to be as close to a horizontal cross on floor as you can get.

Blairbob
He could be lower to the floor. Really close on the 2s. I don't know what the judge gave him or took, if any. If you are familiar with the wide armed handstand on floor or Y/Japanese HS, it is supposed to be similar in how high it is off the ground. Well, except that is horizontal. As for swallow/maltese; where your arms tend to be has to do with balancing the body out, I think. It would be pretty insane and may impossible to balance out with hands as wide apart as a handstand/planche.
Geoffrey Taucer
Arm width is for balance. Unless you have some really heavy legs, you can't hold a swallow with your hands the same width you would for a planche.
Gregor
It's not just the balance, depends on your neuromuscular connecting to in the hold position. In short depends where and how you feel your muscles...
