I noticed problems coming back to the U.S. after 7 months abroad and these I attributed to some sort of dietary changes. One of these problems was the onset of generalized water retension shortly after I got back. As a byproduct, at night I had what seemed to be swelling in the ankles and wrists that caused carpal-tunnel like symptoms. Those symptoms abated during the day and are usually indicative of fluid retension. I still haven't pinned down what dietary change could have caused such, but I do have one conjecture and it may not be dietary at all: I started using a different type of plastic anti-bite/grind dental appliance (made in china) from what I had been using before. The new type is disposable and must be discarded after three nights. Two of them in the lot had such a strong oder and taste that they caused a burning sensation and were impossible to keep in one's mouth. I suspect that this may be the culprit.
