Probably impingement syndrome, but it could be a deltoid strain or infraspinatus (less likely but possible). There is also a possibility that this is pain from one of the muscles attaching to the coracoid process. Finally it could be something to do with the long head of the biceps tendon. Going through them systematically and massaging out the tightness will let you know if that is the case. Don't miss coracobrachialis.

Massage all muscles that connect to or near the affected area on a daily basis, being sure to focus on separating the fascicles. It won't feel very good at first. You should also probably consider not benching while you try and fix this.

************ Thank you. Very logical process.Interestingly enough XR dips do not hurt. I will do exactly as you describe then attempt that"'chinese shoulder stretch" used on weightlifters i saw on youtube.

Hello

Have not posted about my routine in a while. I credit my pharmacology plan(and the information on this site) with assisting my gains greatly so far as my age(51) would otherwise really work against me. I can now do a tucked back lever with palms face down(towards floor) to parallel.I can now do a handstand off the wall for 5-6 sec.and it's a good feeling. Following the WOD formats takes some humility(about what one thinks is correct concerning training) but the progress makes it seem both rational and worthwhile. I will post more details about my routines later. BTW i am very grateful for the assistance and free exchange of information on this site.
