Seiji
You know how there are positions for planche and the levers before you get to the actual thing? Well, how about manna? How can you check your progress in the manna?I tried to lift my legs up as high as I could from a MSH, and it looked like I was well on my way. My shoulders slouch forward and my back has a huge arch, but it's starting to look like I could have it in a few months. If I train my flexibility, I could get farther too. My legs are huge compared to my skinny arms, and if they would counterbalance me, I would start to make fast progress. Right now, the best I can do is ever so slightly past vertical... Not much of a help, but good. I'll try to get a picture.
Neal Winkler
You just have to eyeball it.Stop trying it for now though. Master l-sit, straddle-L, and then move on to manna. Not that you'll listen to the above advice. I'm talking to "inverted planche" boy after all... Joshua Naterman
I tried to lift my legs up as high as I could from a MSH, and it looked like I was well on my way. My shoulders slouch forward and my back has a huge archThis is all you need to say. You aren't doing a MSH. MSH is with perfectly straight back. Yes, it is very hard. You will also need a good straddle L. That's the level of compression you need for a Manna.rX4zPm95dAY Watch carefully. The back stays almost completely straight until the legs go past vertical. I saw Dillon do this with his back straight, his legs parallel with the ground, and his hips almost a foot in front of his hands. That was mind boggling, and that's exactly the strength you need to build in the MSH.Also, with your "inverted planche" goal, you will literally be doing MSH with a straight body. That IS your inverted planche.
Seiji
o.oWell, I've been going about this the wrong way. At least I made progress, despite it being wrong lmfaoI knew the shoulders and back were a problem, which is why I mentioned them. My MSH doesn't have those, trying to press that into a manna is where things get ugly. I do realize a giant MSH is an inverted planche What do you mean master L sit and straddle L?I've never times my L sits, but I know it's above 30 seconds. I can't do a complete adv. L sit because my active flexibility doesn't allow it. My lower back bends a bit.Is straddle L the split where your arms are between your legs? I got that... don't know how long. One arm is a pain to balance, but I can hold those for at least 10 seconds too. I always get cramps in my quads from those :/Wow I sound cocky. Do I always talk about my accomplishments this much? Do I always talk about my accomplishments this much? Not that I want to put you down or anything but accomplishments is a relative term. I think I'm at about the same regarding time of L-sit and straddle L holds and I'm proud of my work but don't forget there is much much much much more room for improvement. I'm guessing coaches athletes hold L-sits for 2 minutes and can walk around in them without a problem, same for the straddle L holding it high enough and being flexible enough to press out of it and so on. And still it took them quite some time and hard work to achieve a manna. So just train hard, diligently and properly and accomplishments will come. Joshua Naterman
You do in fact come across as extremely immature. You asked, so I'm giving an honest answer. My apologies if that upsets you.30 seconds is what you need to shoot for with advanced L-sit and straddle L. For the manna, keep working your MSH and start working it correctly. If that means you do low MSH, that's OK!These are all floor holds. Make a video of L-sit and straddle L and msh and post it here so we can actually see what is going on. We are severely limited in any help we can offer without that.
Seiji
No, no, it's fine. I've been called worse, and I do need to know these sort of things so I can try not to be. (it's a slow work in progress)Looks like it's time for me to make a progress video... I'll be right on it.
Joshua Naterman
It's tough man, but you gotta do it ! That's just the way it is. I had to do the same thing, and I still work on it! As long as you are always conscious of your actions you can alter them fairly quickly, within a few months if you focus hard on it. Definitely post the progress video, that will really help.
