Hi everyone,

i am 24 years old 174cm 76kg 11% bf. Since i was 4 years old i have played soccer and last 3 years i added bodybuilding and gain some muscles. I have always practised sport..

I think that my strenght is pretty good but my flexibilité is the worst ever as the major part of soccer player...

1) do you think i can benefit from foundation 1 with my weight ( and muscle) or it will slow my progression ?

2) i have absolutely no flexibility.. Do you think i can master these figures beginning with almost no flexibility ?

3) is it possible to add isolation exercises at the gym?

4) i train in a gym and i dont have gymnastic rings, can i use a pull up bar ? And if no, do you think i can go to the gym with gymnastic rings ?

5) if i begin GB, should i begin with foundation 1 or fundamentals given my past ?

lot of questions.. I am sorry and thx for the answers

HI Sebastien well:

1) the weight it is not a problem, i'm less tall then you and I weight more then you, I reached basically all figure of foundation 4 exception of manna which requires a lot of work. you can for sure obtain benefit from foundations

2) if you pain foundations with stretch course you can build back all of your flexibility, I got split, pancake, pike, bridge and shoulder extension beginning from an horrible situation. so you can.

3) you are free to train something else, how many results you can obtain depends on how much focused you are on one type of approach.

4) you can hang a pair of rings with straps on a pullup bar

5) beginning with fundamentals it is a good way to discover your limitations. this will allow you to understand what type of stretch course you need in the nearly future with foundations .

alessandro just one more question :

- how long does it take for you to masters foundations 1 assuming that you begin with low flexibility ?

How long it takes depends on lots of stuff, your level of athleticism and consistency etc. It takes the time you need.

As Alessandro mentioned the Fundamentals course would be a good course to begin with. It's a gentle introduction to GST and you'll get to address your weak links.

I would also recommend to do the stretching series alongside Foundation 1. These will definitely help you progress faster if you struggle with flexibility :)

Yes Sebastien, you can do the stretch series with your weight lifting. Either after your workout or on a separate day :)

The GB program can benefit anyone even even people who have been athletic all their life. The idea with GB is to rebuild the body with flexability and mobility along with strength. This in turn will give you a more useful strength. The thing people do not think about is if you just work on strength with out flexablity and mobility the ligaments and tendons tighten causing greater wear in the joints and I believe can possibly increase joint degeneration. GB also works on strength areas that many people do not especially the shoulders back and core in away that just weight lifting does not. In weight lifting many work on specific muscles at a time which does not balance the group it is in. In doing GB over time you will balance your strength and may improve your weight lifting. You will decrease injuries because of the mobility and balance in strength. I have been athletic all my life. State champ in wrestling, long distance in track, and a jockey. I run, ski, back country ski, ride bikes, hike, even some weight lifting, but I realized my flexability really sucked. I wish I had this training back then. I have done many programs and at the time they were good but they did not focus on moblility as GB does and when you finished that program you kind of had nowhere to go.  I also found that stretching decreased pain in my joints. Other programs stretching were not as comprehensive and I only got so far. In GB I have been moving toward areas I didn not think possible, but now I believe I will get there. It is going to take time ( alot ), But I am in for the long haul. Sorry about the long windedness. Also this program will help find your weak areas like none other.
