I've started looking extensively into gymnasts style training for myself, but been told I'm to tall and heavy to lift my weight and some of the moves wont work in my favour,Secondly was told that this style of stretching is dangerous and causes issues in later life due to over extending the body, can someone tell me if this is correct pleaseThank YouDarren Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Poor both active and passive mobility provide a good way to reduce the sarcopenia and alpha-motorneurons degeneration. Other than that you can train with Gymnastic Strength Training™ at your height with no issues. I'm training at 6'0 and same body weight as you with no issues. Following proper progressions of exercises is necessary. I'm not sure what type of stretching you are referring to but I think being more mobile would help you later in life, not hinder you. Yes, it's true that some moves won't work in your favour. This is the case for everyone who doesn't hit the proverbial genetic lottery.
