Just wanted to share my 'playground'. It's part of a community project I was involved in, in my village. We raised money for this from various development foundations.

As you can see, there's a wooden platform for floor exercises, parallel bars, stall bars, pullup bar with room for pullovers, and kettlebells in pairs from 8-32 kg.

It's good stuff, the tent provides shelter from rain and sun, but the view is preserved :)

We also bought a couple of those senior exercise ski steppers, or whatever their called, but obviously I'm not nearly as stoked about them...

Keilani, it's hard to feel sorry for you after your updates about working out on the beach, in the tropics ;)

It gets better, by the way. Behind that small ramp, behind the tent is this bouncy thingy:

And just next to the tent is a 24x12 meter artificial turf course for tennis, volleyball, football, basketball etc.

Pretty good facilities; it also means that there can be no excuses ;)

We had a local smith make and galvanize the parallel bars, stall bars and pullup bars.

Those three combined cost just about the same as one of those exercise machines for seniors, but offer virtually unlimited options for exercises.

If any of you guys should ever get involved in something like this, going the DIY route will get you very far, even on a relatively small budget.

I would encourage everyone who complains about lack of training facilities to join a resident's union or similar and get cracking on something like this. Yes it takes some time, but then again you make new friends and acquire new skills along the way.

My experience is that there often is a lot of goodwill in the system towards projects like these, also during crises etc.
