Coach Sommer
Mediocrity It continually astounds me how many people consciously choose mediocrity. Jeanne Horgan
I think people settle for mediocrity because they want to achieve milestones in the fastest and easiest way possible. The whole "90 days or less" mentality gets people to believe they don't have to "wait" for the super high level skills, strength, etc... We must realize that pro or Olympic level athletes did not get to where they are by taking the quick and easy route. They train with patience, consistency, and discipline. Striving for excellence is focusing on the long term goal rather than scrambling up your bench by 5 pounds. The long term goals and path to excellence comes with a journey that should be reflected on in order to learn from our past experiences. Trying to skip past needed progressions is like skipping a tutorial on a video game. Sure, you may be able to get the just of what you're doing, but chances are you made many more mistakes than you would have if you would of simply followed the tutorial. Learn how to perform skills properly even if it looks easy, so that you may reduce the chance for injury and build a proper foundation. (Haha get it, foundation lolololol)
