Forearm Splints in SL

I posted this in the F3 forum, but I wanted to put it in a more public place because I'm a little bit concerned and would love a widespread opinion.

The side lever work in foundation has started giving me very painful forearm splints (i.e. feels exactly like a shin splint, but in the forearm) in whichever arm is pressing. It wasn't a big issue at first, just mildly uncomfortable, and foolishly I ignored it and pressed on. Now it's much more painful, and manifests itself in dips, planche work, and essentially all pressing movements. Any advice for treatment? Should I drop the SL work? And what could I be doing incorrectly in the SL that would cause the pain? Thank you for the input guys, I really appreciate it.

Stop all movements that hurt your arm. You need to let it heal. I could not get rid of these until Cory fair did some soft tissue work on my arms during my last seminar. Hopefully he won't mind sharing what he did :) .

For forearm splint you need to work the tissue between the muscle and the bone. I would take my middle knuckle on my opposite hand and dig in under the bone in my arm and rub up and down the bone. Hurts pretty bad so you should have a pretty strong will but it works wonders. Sorry for the poor explanation. Maybe Cory will elaborate if he has some time

Thanks for the quick response. Can you suggest anything to do to preserve the SL progress I've made? It'd be disappointing to take a while off and lose it all. Additionally, would a technique issue be causing the pain, or is it just poor wrist conditioning? I'd like to avoid the same issue when I start up again. Thanks for the help  :)

Would need to see a video to know if it was technique.  Could be you are allowing your body to turn which is placing more pressure on your wrist.  Also I am assuming you gave each earlier progression their due as the progressive load in foundation is not just for muscle strength but also for connective tissue.  Make sure not to post a video of the foundation exercise here if you do choose to upload one.

In the other topic on the Foundation sections, I posted Flexor Carpi Ulnaris, however since you say here it's caused by pressing movements, then it would be Extensor Carpi Ulnaris instead then

I used to have this as well a couple of years back. It took me something like half a year to get rid of it so that it wouldn't show up ever anymore. I would recommend what Daniel said, and then just gentle wrist work with every possible angle every day .

I favorited that video a while ago, and still use it whenever I get elbow discomfort. Helps immensely :)
