triggly
Hi Guys ! My name is Christian im 19 years old and im doing weightlifting for about 2 years at the moment im looking for strength gains in my Bench , Squat and Deadlift there for i train with Heavy Weights 3xtimes a Week just this Movements . Im around 187cm tall and weight 96kg im on a kcal deficit since 2 weeks so the weight will go down... So now my Question i can Dip for 2 Reps with 50kg on my waist but i just can do 6 pullups and its already a fight from the 4th one So i just thought about maybe adding some form of Gymnastictraining into my Split could maybe bring me closer to a muscle up or a front lever... I have no ideas how to get a good increase in my pullups while still getting 100% out of my "Mainlifts" Would like some advice from Gymnasts on this one because i thought thats one of the impressive thinks you do , make hard moves look easy So yeah , i hope somebody will respond to me and all the best !Chris
Thomas Parmer
Buy a doorway pullupbar, do half your max everytime you go through the door. Your rep max will go through the roof faster then you can Imagine! also add elbow prehab routine to your workouts
Connor Davies
"Ca a weightlifter do 'gymnastics moves'" what like backflips and stuff? Probably not....Pull-ups are relatively easy to program. Since you're a power lifter is just say add a set in between EVERY set of pushing exercises you do. (Yes, even warmup sets.). By necessity the rep range will be kept low but you will get tons of volume and you'll be surprised how much your max will shoot up by.
Jurre
A weightlifter can't do a backflip..? Of course you can, olympic lifting will as well as squatting will increase your vertical. Lose some weight exercises and replace them with bodyweight exercises. Skip bent over rows for pull ups, just start working on gymnastic style exercises and you'll notice you don't need a lot of weights at all. Connor Davies
A weightlifter can't do a backflip..? Of course you can, olympic lifting will as well as squatting will increase your vertical. Whoa, I didn't mean to imply 'you touch a barbell you lose acrobatic ability' or anything like that. Just that being able to lift a huge weight up doesn't automatically translate. For what it's worth OP, I've heard repeated many times that training GST will allow you to perform well in the 'main lifts' but that training them alone will not allow you to perform well at GST. ForzaCavaliere
Strong weightlifters have been occasionally known to get front lever quickly (maybe even first try in some scenarios). Muscle ups with a lot of momentum (small/medium kip) are not beyond them, I saw footage of a heavyweight BBer doing kip muscleup on rings. There's a BBer doing a planche on youtube (probs had gymnastics training though): And here's footage of world champion olympic weightlifter Lu Xiaojun doing a human flag: Yes you can do gymnastics moves if you train. Connor Davies
Anyone else remember that time that one guy blew out his elbows trying to iron cross without properly building straight-arm-strength first? Edit: hahaha, I was just kidding. About the one guy thing. It's happened a bunch of times.
