Guest joswald
I've seen several articles online about making your own rings and I'm very tempted to save myself plenty of money......Has anyone else on here made their own? How did they turn out?Any advice on doing so that you would give me?ThanksJAmes
Jason Stein
James,Friend of mine bought a length PVC, cut two pieces about a foot each, heated 'em up, and bent 'em around paint cans. Then he threaded some kind of camping or climbing straps through 'em. This was a couple years ago, and he still uses them; they hang off his pull-up bar. When he needs to do muscle-ups, he hands them off a stairwell under his apartment.Though why not do yourself a favor and save up for the XR rings? They're worth it.best of luck, jason
Fryk
Made my rings a couple of months back. WFS: http://board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?p=517845I have been happy with them. I can't really say how they compare with anything else, since I haven't tried anything else. Making them out of wood requires some skill and patience, as well as faith in your own ability. ( When you are inverted you absolutely to have faith in the rings  ) .What you decide to do is up to you. I like mine primarily because they are heavy and feel like they can take alot of stress. I have never been a big fan of plastic products, but that just me. Also my rings smell good. :roll:What ever you do, get some rings, they beat the crap out of any other piece of exercise equipment. :!:
