He was not featured in the stream but you can find his recorded events on the usagym YouTube channel. They have uploaded all the events for all athletes there.

Just glancing through that video, saw a nice manna followed be a press handstand at about the 1hr 19 min mark. Makes it look so easy!

You know, I thought that might be him when I saw his coach jumping up and down at the end of the routine! His dad is fun to watch.

Please excuse my ignorance of competitive gymnastics, but why does Allan perform routines that are easier than he is capable of? E.g. No maltese or inverted crosses during the rings routine. Is it a case of conserving energy since there are so many events, or is it that each competition calls for a certain level of difficulty based on who he is competing against, or that he is capable of more difficult elements in training but is not yet ready to perform them in competition?

Thanks,

Neil

Difficulty is only one part of the competition.  Execution is the other.  You must balance these to get the best score possible.   This is part of the strategy of gymnastics and is especially important for an all around competitor like Allan.  If you used the highest difficulty you could possibly muster you may not be able to perform them all perfectly and may fatigue or fall.  Also this was a prelim competition.  Sometimes people will save some harder skills for the finals if they think they need to risk lower execution to have a chance at a higher overall score.

Congrats Allen!

Wow! Didn´t notice this. This is fantastic! Pommels is considered by  most gymnsts to be the hardest.

Yes. Especially in the US. It will be interesting to see how his pommel is affected as he starts picking up a bit more ring strength. His swing certainly looks good! Must have had a decent developmental coach growing up :).

For those interested in tumbling.

Eddie Penev.  His technical execution of those tumbling passes was near flawless.  Awesome floor routine.
