JoeJustice
Hey guys Im new to this forum and decided to create a profile. I am in need of guidence, where i live I have no possability to train with experts in the field of gymnastics or bar-training. Ive thought myself everything and been using youtube and the internet as my go to "guru" I believe that being strong in one aspect is a weakness, and thats why i changed my approach to training and life. I am a Bodybuilders, Strength athlete, Yogaist, Crossfitter and want to master the Gymnatic skill set aswell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gFCVwk5PGY This is my first recorded back lever / straddle ive been practising it for 2weeks and finally think that i am mastering the movement. But i simply cant hold a front lever, it is af if i cannot keep the rotation in the upper body to keep myself horizontal. I will record and show my exercises and attempts on a "front lever" but meanwhile i would aprichiate any tips, guides, tutorials on the front lever! Thanks guys
gravy
Your back lever is not yet mastered. If you want to master gymnastics, you will need to start with the absolute basics.
Yaad Mohammad
You should tilt your hips forward and protract your scapula for a better allignment in your back lever. As for your front lever, I either recommend you to follow Foundation or just follow my tutorial I made:
Colin Macdonald
...finally think that i am mastering the movement. You need to get your body parallel to the ground.
Cole Dano
This video is a great example of how a community like GB can help the 'lone' trainee. It's simply impossible to know if your form is right without some sort of outside feedback. Even mores without all the information needed to even know what a BL is supposed to be. Of course, beyond video feedback and forum posts, an even more effective route is the actual, real time feedback that one gets in a seminar. Combing the courses, forums and seminars together and one has a highly synergistic system for building real athletes.
JoeJustice
Thanks alot guys! i will be using the advice and looking through the tutorials! The "foundation" is an online guidence in basics of gymnastics right? I would say that im alittle different then most people here "denmark", i like working on myself and working apon my knowlagde n skills. Last night i spent 2hours out side on my home made bar and worked on my frontlevers, i really enjoy seeing the succes of actually achieveing something that i could not do before. ill record some of my frontlever work for you guys to judge, whether ive doing right or wrong! thanks
Colin Macdonald
The "foundation" is an online guidence in basics of gymnastics right? It's actually a step by step training program taking you from the basics to more "advanced" elements (the advanced stuff isn't out yet). It lays out not only how to do the moves, but what you need to do them well and without injury along the way. It's for people like you and me who don't have direct access to experts in the field, and gives you access to training methods by a championship level gymnastics coach. Foundation trains you to master 7 essential elements, front lever, side lever (aka human flag), manna, hollow back press, rope climb, straddle planche and single leg squat (probably ending with explosive jumps for height and distance). Once you mastered those you can call yourself a beginner gymnast and start to work towards more advanced elements. Most people think of things like side and back lever as beast skills. But anyone who's gone to one of Coaches seminars has had a severe re-education on what it means to be strong.
JoeJustice
Thanks for the reply! i might just buy foundation, but when is the more advanced chapter comming out? And does anyone have a picture of a single page "foundation" just to see how it is layed out and written/pictured ect. Tonight i will record how i am working on my front lever, and really hope that some of you might pinpoint out any weaknesses/faults/tips/tricks n what ever! Mikkel Ravn
Hey Joe ( ) For the back lever, you need to use a chin-up grip instead of pull-up grip to perform them properly - That way, they are way harder on the elbows. However, for the very same reason, it is not an exercise that's suited for beginners. It's sneaky, because most strong dudes will be able to hold it with very little practice, but pretty soon the elbows get screwed up from overloading them, so be very careful. Usually the recommendation is to be able to do at least 3x30 seconds of german hangs before even considering back levers. About Foundation, what sets it apart from everything else is the inclusion of mobility exercises that must be mastered before moving forwards. This is crucial for us adult, who wish to get better at GST - There's just no way around getting more flexible, and Foundation will teach you how. Yaad Mohammad
Yaad thanks for the tutorial, your good bro.looking awesome, are you putting up a one arm back lever tutorial, full planche, handstand?Im also looking forward to perfect my muscleup aswell as my handstandwere in the world are u from btw`?Thank you. I will only make tutorials of moves I more and less mastered. Meaning, that I won't be able to do one on the full planche and handstand. I'll consider the other two, but I think I'll start on the back lever first.I'm from the Netherlands.
