fireman
Hello. I have received the book yesterday and i have been reading all time that i can. It's really interesting.I have a question. If i want to get the one hand push-up, and one hand chin-up; How i could do in order to integrate these in the workout program? These would be training like skills, at the beginning? or i can put it like the appropriate pull/press supplemental movement. If i use the GTG program, that is a good option, one time that i have got the one hand push up and i want to get another skill, like tuck planche for example, I will lose the strength of the one hand push up? How is the way to practice another new skill, but not leaving at all the others? or... If i can do the one hand push up, but i can't do the advanced took planche, one time i get it, I will I Be stronger in order to do the one hand push-up and in adition, hold the tuck planche? Thanks you very much! braindx
1. Those are not skills. Skills are movements or holds that are NOT that taxing on the body but utilize the nervous system to learn extensively. One such skill for most people is a handstand. I know of no one who would see any of the one hand pushups or chins as a skill... none are THAT strong.2. Generally, as long as you're getting stronger (moving onto hard progressions) you will retain the skills that you have had previously.3. GTG is good. But follow it up with strength. Since GTG is high frequency it basically mostly work CNS activatin and motor learning. To develop the musculature to support strength you should do some strength work aftewards to basically "solidify" the gains from GTG.
fireman
Ok, thanks you very much. One question, what do you want to said with do strength work after GTG program? Change the frequency work, for example, a three M, W, F or M, T, TH F; with 3x5, 5x3?
braindx
Depends on what you're doing already and what you can handle. If you're GTG pullups, it generally not a good idea to do strength work with pulling muscles such as front lever because you're going to toast yourself.Strength work with pressing, core, legs can continue as normal. Any of the variations you listed could work as well as any others you wanted.
