hi all

i am pretty new to this type of body conditioning. i teach yoga and rock climb a lot so i feel i am fit. in the past year i have become increasingly interested in handstands and planches. finding this site has really fired me up but i have a few questions..

i am 30 years old, 170 lbs at 6'1, very lean. how realistic is it for me to work towards a planche?

i live in a very small town, i am the only yoga teacher and i know of no one else with gymnastic experience. will a home practice be enough?

my workout equipment is a swiss ball, a 10 lb medicine ball and parallettes, do i need anyhting else?

i would like to be able to hold a handstand for 1 minute in a year and hold a planche in 2. am i just dreaming?

thanks

I would say it's definately realistic, even though i haven't got the planche YET i feel that it should be attainable in 2 years or less if you work hard and its your main goal. Handstand one minute can be done in much less than a year. For equipment if those 2 are your only goals you dont need anything else... a pullup bar or rings would help though so you can focus on some pulling and not only pressing, but if you do rock climbing I guess you are already strong in pulling.

good to hear, thanks man.

i am thinking i should focus on Coach Sommers' planche progression for the main goal.

thanks a lot any other tips will be greatly appreciated.
