carnegie
Hey!If you had only one choice, which one would you choose, FrontLever or BackLever? And why? Do the used muscles differ?Bye

Genki Hagata
i don't really get what you mean, but if you mean which i would learn first it would be back lever, its way easier IMO.
matthew.percussion
I'll elaborate. You should train both. If you have the ability to train one as far as equipment goes, you can train the other. These work many opposing muscle groups, from back and abs, to glutes and quads. If you do one, do the other.
braindx
They're both pulling exercises so... you get the same benefits from one as from the other pretty much.If anything, go with front lever as it's harder and requires a bit more muscular strength. kintelary
As I am not able to do either yet, I will simply think it through. At one time I was able to do a back bend, but standing up was too difficult (just making note).BL: From Standing Lower Into Bridge and Pull Into HandstandFL: From Handstand Lower Into Bridge and Pull To StandingFL requires more active lower body strengthBL requires more active upper body strengthFL requires the shoulder girdle to maintain stability through lowering the body into BridgeBL requires the Legs/Hips to maintain stability through lowering the body into BridgeFL requires the lower body to pull the body upBL requires the upper body to pull the body upBoth require the back and abdominals to do a large ammount of work.If my musings are correct... BL requires "more strength" pulling up into Handstand from Bridge FL requires "more strength" lowering into Bridge from Handstand The two movements are similar, but opposite. One is "negative" As for rising from Bridge versus lowering to Bridge... one seems more difficult, but they are again the same movement but opposite in that one is negative.I think as far as strength goes, controlled lowering builds more strength, but controlled lifting requires more strength.Anyway, my thirty-three cents worth. @Carnegie I would choose BL because it is incrementally easier to train since my legs are stronger than my upper body. gekitsu
i train both, too - i do a little work on static holds every day, and just switch them up on a day-by-day rhythm.
Gregor
Bridges won't help you at all (for levers ofcourse). For front lever: hanging leg risesFor bac lever:erbsplanchereverse cranksback hyperextension (legs rises)And many more modifications of this elements or something else... kintelary
My Misunderstanding...I thought FL and BL were Front Limber and Back Limber.I would go with Front Lever as I can easily do Back Lever on a Bar, but Nowhere close to Front Lever.Cheers.
