Muscle-Up: Flexibility and Strength in the bottom position

I'm able to perform a decent MU (little to no momentum, albeit with quite a bit of forward lean), but the strength/flexibility required to maintain a false grip in the bottom position has been a challenge to develop.

At this point I have to assume a false grip with my feet on the ground, then bend my knees and attempt to straight my elbows and retract my shoulder blades while maintaining the false grip.  This bottom position is the hardest point of the movement for me, and I often don't accomplish the full bottom ROM or lose my grip and have to begin again.

What's the best way to fix this?  I was considering doing several timed reps in the bottom position after my daily 1-3rep MU practice.  Also, is there a good cue to focus on at the end of the transition to minimize the forward lean?

Keeping false grip doesn't require much strength. It's just a matter of friction. Maybe your hands are too slippery. Bandage your rings and use grip powder to keep your hands dry.

It's not just friction, you need to keep your wrist strongly flexed, and your fingers as well. Also actively supinate at the wrist while flexing.

But, on the friction side, make sure to wash your hands with non-moisturizing soap right beforehand, and dry them well. Dry, oil-free skin has an excellent friction coefficient.

 Tape your wrists.

Btw, it's much easier to maintain a false grip on wood rings versus synthetic rings. You can alleviate this by taping the rings.

My thought: Difficulty maintaining false grip in the ring hang = poor shoulder flexibility (or elbow or some sort of wrist issue).

Thank you everyone.  Slippery hands/wrings is definitely part of the issue, as is shoulder flexibility.  I'm good enough to settle into the stretch, but at the point the slipperiness becomes an issue.  I'll get some tape and see what happens.

Is general athletic tape appropriate for this?
