Typically venues have been recreation facility or school gyms and outdoor fields. I do not know how the finances were handled.
Typically those types of facilities charge an hourly rental fee.

- Let's go with Cole's new pricing structure for London. Too late for the SEB as it stands. Should timing on SEB and EB be adjusted for London?
- Nic, what are the timing and discount steps that DD using to promote their seminars?
- Let's go with Cole's super sliding scale for revenue sharing for London as well.
- Travel, Hotel and Food off the top. Food should probably be set per day. I am thinking $75. Thoughts?
- Although the costs to GB are substantially higher using the reveue sharing model than straight facility rental, we are essentially bringing on their business as a partner. They will apply time and energy getting their people excited about attending.
- This would also facilitate long term repeat seminars on an annual basis
- The loss of revenue to GB can be offset by requiring the purchase of F1 and H1 by the students as required text books.
Thoughts?
The below is the structure for a Seminar on the 27-29th of September.
Extreme Early-Bird Registration Discount:
Register and pay by March 15, 2013, fee is only $1,295 (Save $1,000.00)
Super Early-Bird Registration Discount:
Register and pay by April 12, 2013, fee is only $1,495 (Save $800.00)
Excellent Early-Bird Registration Discount:
Register and pay by May 17, 2013, fee is only $1,695 (Save $600.00)
Still a Great Deal Early-Bird Registration Discount:
Register and pay by June 14, 2013 fee is only $1,895 (Save $400.00)
- Excellent!
Revenue Sharing:
- As it up to 40%?
- Staff numbers as is?
- I also see the greatest advantage of doing it this way being the relationships built
Food Allowance:
- Good idea $75 sounds realistic to me.
Required Reading:
- Yes
- How to 'enforce'?
In the future, I'm hoping InfusionSoft can help us track seminar registrations vs ebook purchases
- Would making a Seminar + Reading material pkg be a good idea?
Price need not be discounted from buying books, just might help lower the purchase threshold
The text idea is perfect. Also gets some of the language out there before the seminar starts.
Package pricing is a great idea. For ease of purchase if anything, not a price discount.
$75 sounds reasonable to me.

Certification seminars are 3 days and around 1200-1300 depending on location.
Cole,
What would be adjusted seminar pricing is we followed the industry standard pricing structure that Nic references above?
Cory,
Is there a way to tie a seminar registration into a H1 and F1 purchase?

Something to note if we consider this is that International seminars do cost more. Italy for example is $1595.
SFG 3 day course in Harlow, UK
1195 with early registration (2 months prior)
1595 without early reg.

If I understood your question. something like this:
3 Day - $1,199 / $959 SEB (if you wanted to go that route w/ three day) + H1 & F1 or F1-4
2 Day - $799 Base / $639 SEB / $719 EB + H1 & F1 or F1-4
1Day - $399 Base / $319 SEB / $359 EB + Appropriate Courses
1/2 Day - $199 Base / $159 SEB / $179 EB + Appropriate Courses

This is what go me thinking about Pricing in the first place, as Coach's original numbers to me were LESS than a hometown seminar. Currently I've structured the pricing to simply scale off the 3 Day AZ seminar. I don't know all the hidden costs in AZ to know how they compare to out of town.
There is a Canada seminar listed for 1700 so venue costs must also be playing a role.

Coach,
Do you mean that a seminar purchase requires the H1/F1 bundle to checkout?

- No, but knowing that would be useful to send 'reminder' emails.
- The idea here would be to have a bundle of Seminar + H1 & F1
So two products: one standalone seminar and one seminar + required materials bundle?
Exactly

- The good thing about having a large selection early bird discounts is that the various deadlines are tailor made for a seminar specific email campaign.
And if several seminars are in development this allows for several simultaneous campaigns to take place without seeming overly pushy. We are just making a public service announcement
.
- Also those who would like to save the most money will register the earliest. This allows a single product to several different pricing tiers and still appeal to a wide variety of consumers.
- Are the DD seminars intentionally over priced to allow for a more dramatic savings to be shown with the early bird discounts?
- Nic,
Do the bulk of the DD seminar students take advantage of the largest early bird discounts?
- I would assume that is the case. Fairly standard marketing plan in retail also, price above where you want to sell so that the consumer believes they are getting a good deal.
- The majority do register early on. Not all of them though.
Very interesting analysis Coach! Food for thought.
With the numbers DD get to their Certs, it's worth learning from them. But, not everyone is a fan of their marketing style. I hope we find a less in your face style.
- Just to be clear, is this latest round of pricing posts for the future, or should I hold off on contacting London until everything is decided?
Let's use your pricing structure for London while we continue to explore other possible long term changes to our seminar pricing.
For London then:
- Super Early Bird discount
Register and pay by April 5
- Early Bird Discount
Register and pay by May 5
- Regular Tuition
After May 5
Thoughts?
- See if either Jeff Serven or Carmen would like a seminar the weekend of May 10,11. Same pricing structure.
I will be up in Portland the week prior for JO Nationals, so this weekend may be a particularly good fit for Jeff.
Let's also see about finalizing the higher GB Seminar prices for implementation with the September 3 day seminar and a potential 2 or 3 day Australian seminar next November.
Sounds like a good plan to me.
Sorry I was unexpectedly swamped yesterday.
- Sounds good for London and long as we get everything moving soon April 5 should be a good SEB date
- Will contact Jeff first, he can also provde invaluable insight on how to purse CF based seminars
- Made a minor change to the Free Staff benefit
- Made change to cancellation, no doctors note needed
- Added cancellation fee, 40% within 30 days (to compensate for no doctors note, 20% is too generous)
- Added no refund for cancellations within two weeks. This is because ideally we should be able to pay the host upon completion of the workshop. Any last minute cancellations will make this a huge pain.
! - One outstanding issue is repeat seminar attend discounts. This will be very difficult to implement along with revenue sharing. This needs a re-think!
!! - I just took a look at the flights in and out of London. This will be tricky, I'm not sure there is a way to avoid spending at least one extra night there.
Your preferred direct flight has the following schedule
PHX - LHR depart 19:25 - arrive 13:10 ( This could be Ok as Andrew preferred to start after 14:00)
LHR - PHX depart 14:40 - arrive 17:10 ( Seminar would need to end by 12:00 to have a hope of making the flight, even then it would be tight. London in June is NUTS)
- Nevertheless I am sending the info on to Andrew, with times to be determined
Perhaps attendance discounts apply to home based seminars only? This combined with testing at seminars here add incentive for people to come to the Az seminars.
That's exactly what I was thinking Nic!
