Find out if your hips, knees, or ankles might be holding you back from a better squat! Let’s start with the most basic question: how far down can you go in your squat? We should all be able to lower ourselves to the floor in our squats, but years of desk work have left us out of practice and stiff.
Let’s test this: With your feet hip-width apart, squat down as low as you can. The goal here is to squat so that your butt is just off the floor, resting against your Achilles, or back side of your heel and calf. This will mean that the entire back of your thigh is in contact with your calf muscles. If there is a gap between your thigh and your calf, don’t worry.
