palmcron
Hi,I've been training handstands for some while now, but I think my form and posture aren't perfect (i.e. my body isn't completely straight with every bodypart perpendicular to the ground). Here is how my handstands look like: Any advice is appreciated
braindx
It's pretty close. What I've found to correct a slight back arch is this:Lay on the ground in a hollow position pushing the lower back against the ground. Now, focus on lowering your feet AND your hands until they are approximately one inch or less off of the ground while keeping your lower back against the ground. If you're not activating your abs well (aka arching in a handstand) this position will be hard to hit at first. Hold it a while. Also this other tidbit might help some: sitting in a chair reach your hands up and focus on pushing everything to the ceiling. If your shirt is off you should be see your stomach should look like it's slightly vacuumed in if you do it right. This ensures core tightness so you don't fall into that slight arch that you have. Blairbob
another handstand hollow drill is to lay flat on your stomach and face on the ground. now squeeze your butt, besides pointing your toes. try to suck your belly button off the ground, not your diaphraghm or chest area, just your belly button this is in effect, the suck your gut, squeeze your butt cue
Guest Valentin
Your problem in the handstand is 1- Point your toes up to the ceiling... stretch them up2- Squeeze your butt HARD! and keep it squeezed. If you do that for you, it will fix the slight little curve. But otherwise its really not bad at all...keep it up..
